Varicella Pneumonia

• Occurs most often over the age of 19 rather than in childhood

• Patchy, diffuse air space consolidation

• Tendency to coalesce near hila

• Widespread nodules can occur (30%)

• Tiny calcifications remain in 2% (DDX is histoplasmosis, alveolar microlithiasis)

• 11% mortality rate
